Gaming Mathematician

Job Descriptions

Grand Vision Gaming is seeking a full-time Gaming Mathematician to create new and exciting math models and paytables for Keno, Poker and Slot games for the casino industry. The Gaming Mathematician is also responsible for tuning and altering existing math models for different market regulations. The candidate must have software coding experience to create simulations to confirm excel game math. The Gaming Mathematician will work closely with Software Developers and Quality Assurance Engineers to ensure that game math models are tested and implemented properly. Must be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.


  • Create paytables and other game math for new keno, poker and slot games (with guidance from team members).
  • Create code simulations to confirm excel game math, calculate standard deviations for in-house math tests and ensure the game is in compliance with market regulations.
  • Tune and alter game math for existing slots, keno and poker games.
  • Submit game math to third party testing labs and assist labs with any questions or troubleshooting that may arise during the approval process.
  • Organize and track game math submitted to, and approved by, third party testing labs.
  • Create simple statistical sampling "test plans" following an existing format.
  • Update and maintain various small scripting programs (in python).
  • Prepare game-math summary documents for customers and management.
  • Prepare brief presentations for review of game-math.
  • Answer any game-math questions that arise.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Mathematics (Master's preferred)
  • 3 years' experience in the areas of applied mathematics, probability and statistics
  • Must be proficient in Excel, and have extremely strong probability and combinatorics skills.
  • Coding experience required in C, C++ or C#, and/or python. Coding does NOT have to be to a professional software engineer level, but the mathematician will spend a lot of time writing math-related code

Work Requirements

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment (computers, phones, fax machines, photocopiers, and filing cabinets).
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
